East Lynne Theater Company is an Equity professional theater located in Cape May, New Jersey. Named after a popular melodrama of the 19th Century, East Lynne was founded in 1980 to resurrect plays from America’s theatrical past. Over the years, our mission has expanded to include contemporary work on American themes.
During the Jim Crow era, African American travelers heavily relied on an annual publication, the "Green Book", to navigate segregated areas, using it to find safe places like hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and even beauty salons that would serve them, essentially acting as a lifeline for safe travel across the country where they might face discrimination or danger due to their race.
Board the trolley at the Emlen Physick Estate and travel to the Bellevue Tavern in Cape May Court House for a delicious lunch. The trolley will then travel to Jessie Creek Winery for a tasting and souvenir glass, and to Natali Vineyards for an educational tasting and tour . This event is for adults ages 21 and over.
Cape May’s Poet Laureate Sylvia Baer hosts four 2-hour writing workshops in person this July in Cape May Convention Hall’s air-conditioned Community Room, 714 Beach Ave. Each workshop will explore a writing style: poetry, fiction, memoir and children’s literature.
Cape May County is home to a selection of fantastic breweries. Hop on a Cape May MAC trolley for visits to Cape May Brewing Co., Behr Brewing, and Gusto Brewing Co., for tasting flights of local beers. Lunch is included at Cape Square Kitchen & Craft. This tour is for adults ages 21 and over.
