History literally comes alive in Cape May, our nation’s oldest seaside resort – from our Native American and Dutch roots, to our beloved Victorian architecture, to the City’s roles in World War I and II. We are even the only city in the U.S. to be wholly designated as a national historic district. The Myles Martel Lessons of History Fund Endowment supports important programming on history in Cape May, such as the annual Lessons of History lecture series. This fund is named in honor of Myles Martel, who created this endowment and tirelessly led our efforts to bring historical programming to Cape May for many years.
